ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY SERVICES
Assistive Technology Device - An assistive technology device is "any item, piece of equipment, or product system, whether acquired commercially off the shelf, modified, or customized, that is used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities of children with disabilities."
Assistive Technology Service - Assistive technology services are defined as "Services that directly assist a child with a disability in the selection, acquisition, or use of an assistive technology device."
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA2004)
Assistive Technology Services provides technical assistance at the request of district building educational teams working with students who may benefit from assistive technology. Services include:
 Consultation
 Support teams with the assessment process in order to make knowledgeable
   decisions when considering Assistive Technology
 Support teams in the acquisition process of Assistive Technology (Funding Options)
 Support teams in the implementation process of Assistive Technology
 Conduct inservices/workshops on awareness of Assistive Technology, implementation strategies, accomodations
