Least Restrictive Environment Resources

The CLIU staff supports and consults with 14 school districts within Carbon and Lehigh Counties to provide information pertaining to the least restrictive environment for all children. The Gaskin case has renewed attention on the considerations that enter into program development and placement decisions made by IEP teams. The anticipated outcome of Gaskin Settlement agreement is to increase the number of students with disabilities included in regular education classes that enable students to meaningfully participate in and benefit from instruction in general education. The links on this site will provide information from the Department of Education and PaTTAN to help support the inclusion of students with disabilities in the least restrictive environment.
